My research interests center on the function of cell-surface proteoglycans and their shed counterparts in tumorigenesis (specifically multiple myeloma) and glycosaminoglycan-mediated interactions between microbes (both planktonic and biofilm) and host epithelial cells.

I have a special interested in a Simulated Laboratory Clinical Experience for Medical Laboratory professionals. I developed and coordinated a successful pilot study to determine if a simulated laboratory setting could be used to provide MLT students with a portion of their clinical experience.

I oversee the selection of specimens for scanning to our digital slide database and the organization and maintenance of the database.I am currently facilitating the expansion of digital microscopy in laboratory education to include mycology, parasitology, body fluids and microscopic examination of urine sediments.
